Big day at Natural England Yarner on the Granite Elements Project. Open Studio and 2 Elemental Workshops. Families & Fun..Cake & Coffee. Art & well……… artiness. Pics speak for themselves. Thank you All. Inc. Dawlish Walking Club who had an impromptu private view.
So whose a lucky girl, when Dartmoor National Park received an email from 8 Norwegian men from Tromso enquiring about mud racing, skydiving, cricket and landscape painting among other English pastimes, …..ah send that to Amanda.
What a fantastic day we had, a Grand Day In, as the wind and rain on north Dartmoor was 48 mph! We painted, walked, explored Gidleigh, laughed a lot, shared a traditional Norwegian lunch together and painted some more, we even had an exhibition. It was all filmed, so my 15 minutes of fame will be in Tromso. What good sports they were.
A FUN day at Yarner Woods on the Granite Elements Project. Members of Bovey Tracey Society of Artists were inspired to create. We walked and explored gaining a sense of place. The bird song, the character of the trees, the strength of the granite. We talked of poetry, geology & history and how it informs our making. AND the joy of seeing M, at 85 years, able to join us in our outdoor workshop. Thanks Albert at Natural England for the Landy!
A school, flock, parliament, charm or murder of artists? A very enjoyable day creating at Yarner. We are all responding to PLACE on the Granite Elements Project. Made a start on the earth painting, the rain helped. Happy face.

Raw linen stretched. Knives scraped. Earthy palette. Micaceous haematite. Searching for deposits of sands, ballclay and lignite. All in the Bovey Basin., washed down from the granite on Dartmoor. This is going to be fun……now where’s me raincoat.
Dartmoor November 13 eve of the Beaver Supermoon. Low Sun. Long shadows. Ice in puddles. Grey Wethers two stone circles. Sittaford Tor. southwest to newly unearthed Third Stone Circle. The flint core knapped by a local up to 4,000 years ago. They awaited the same moon…..

38 Degrees teams up with Campaign for National Parks
What a great 80th Birthday party! Two Art in Nature Walks curated nationally by Richard Shilling with local artists facilitating. We, on Dartmoor had a very creative day. I was aided by Land Artist & fellow art & ecologist, Linda Gordon from the North Coast of Devon.
The weather was excellent and views from the top of the moor to Plymouth Sound. Lovely people had signed up, especially the children. Lots of fun creating and laughs.
We were joined on Dartmoor by Gemma from Campaign for National Parks, Marq & Kareem from 38 Degrees, Official photographer Emily W-W & puppy husky, Leigh of BBC Spotlight & Cameraman sent by Alice @Wonderland. The Moorland Guides were busy with their walkers also. Add in the open day for National Parks Week at The Visitor Centre with rare breeds, white face sheep, dartmoor ponies etc. It certainly was a busy day in Princetown!!

Out again on the Granite Elements Art Walks. The difference in colours in one month. Foxgloves are just finishing, heather and gorse appearing. Yellows of tormentil and bracken turning… Add in the colour of the wild bilberry. A warm breeze and a good 5 minute shower. More research in the bag. Thanks to all who came along. Looking forward to the Autumn berry one!!
